Five interesting facts about Harry Potter Movies 

Harry Potter movies became enormously famous around the world. Its first instalment the Sorcerer’s Stone made over $1 billion at the box office, becoming one of the top 10 highest-grossing film adaptations of books, as per the list compiled by Betway. While the final movie the Deathly Hallows II broke all records of popularity, raking in $1.34 billion at the box office. One of the big reasons for the success of these films is that J.K. Rowling’s novels were already iconic books before they were made into movies. While the power of the series was also evident as the previous films helped to generate hype and excitement among the audience for the next ones.    

Harry Potter Movies 

1- Tom Felton initially wanted to play Harry 

In the Harry Potter world, Tom Felton has portrayed the role of the spoilt, rich boy who never misses the chance to insult the protagonist. The British actor has done a brilliant job playing Draco Malfoy, but he wasn’t always planning to be the villain in the film. 

It is said that Felton originally wanted to be Harry Potter or Ron Weasley in the series. However, after failing to get the two roles, he auditioned for Draco and landed the part.

2- Steven Spielberg on board for the Sorcerer’s Stone movie 

Steven Spielberg is a big name in Hollywood who directed movies like Jurassic Park and Schindler’s List. Fans of the Harry Potter movies would be surprised to know that the famous director was also on board for the Sorcerers’ Stone film. However, Spielberg soon left the project and Chris Columbus took the job. 

  3- Robin Williams was also a fan of Harry Potter series 

Robin Williams is regarded as one of the best actors of all time, having worked in films like Jumanji and Good Will Hunting. It is said that Williams was also a big fan of J.K. Rowling’s book series. The great American actor even wanted to play the character of Hagrid when he knew the series was being adapted to films. However, since the famous author only wanted to include British actors, Williams couldn’t be part of it. 

4- Eddie Redmayne couldn’t get the role of Tom Riddle

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the prequel to the Harry Potter film series which first hit the screens in November 2016. The leading role of Newt Scamander was played by Eddie Redmayne who was praised for his performance in the film. 

It is said that Redmayne also wanted to be a part of the original film series. The British actor had auditioned for the role of Tom Riddle in the Chamber of Secrets but couldn’t get it. 

5- J.K. Rowling was offered the part of Lily Potter 

J.K. Rowling created a phenomenon when she wrote the Harry Potter series. Everyone recognizes her genius writing skills but the British author also came close to acting in the movies. 

Rowling was said to be offered the opportunity to play the part of Lily Potter during the creation of the first film. However, she didn’t consider herself suitable for acting and so turned down the role.  

Another interesting fact about Rowling is that she is a fan of Tottenham Hotspur who have one of the most famous EPL top scorers Harry Kane in their team.
