In the Indian Premier League, the orange cap is given to the players who have the highest number of runs throughout the championship. Sachin Tendulkar – Mumbai Indians – 2020 IPL

Chris Gayle is the only player in the Indian Premier League to have the honor of winning the orange cap trophy for consecutive two years. In 2012, he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore and he played 15 matches where he scored 733 runs. His average was 61.08 with 160.74 as an astounding strike rate.

Michael Hussey is an International Australian cricket player. He is a left-handed batsman and plays as a middle-order batsman. His skills and talents have gained him the title of Mr. Cricket in the cricket community. In 2013, he won the orange cap trophy by making 733 runs with an average of 50. However, the IPL trophy was bagged by Mumbai Indians that year. 

Robin Uthappa – Kolkata Knight Riders – 2014 IPL

He plays in the Indian cricket team. He is a right hands batsman and occasionally fills in as a wicket keeper. He debuted in ODI matches of 2006. As he led the team to victory for the second time, Robin Uthapa became the backbone for them. During their 166 matches in 2014, he made an average of 44 with 660 runs and 137.78 as the strike rate. 

David Warner – Sunrisers Hyderabad – 2015 IPL

He is an Australian batsman and opener for the team. He is a left-handed batsman. During 2015 Indian Premier League, the main highlight for the franchise and the fans was that David Warner emerged triumphant with the orange cap trophy. He played 14 games and gained 562 runs through them. His average was 43.23 with 156.54 as the strike rate. 

Virat Kohli – Royal Challengers Bangalore – 2016 IPL

David Warner – Sunrisers Hyderabad – 2017 IPL

In 2017, David Warner achieved the orange cap trophy for the second time. He made 641 runs through 14 matches. His average was of 58.27 and 141.81 as the strike rate. His second orange cap in 2017, showed that he and Sunrisers Hyderabad were very lucky for each other. 

Kane Williamson – Sunrisers Hyderabad – 2018 IPL

He is a New Zealand international cricket team player. He is a right-hand batsman and plays at the top order of the batting line. Kane Williamson made 735 runs. His strike rate was of 142.44 with an average of 52.50 while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League 2018. His achievements also took his team to the final match that year. 

David Warner – Sunrisers Hyderabad – 2019 IPL

From playing 12 matches during the 2019 Indian Premier League, David Warner bagged the orange cap award while siding with Sunrisers Hyderabad. This made him the only player to win this award for the third time in the history of IPL. He made 692 run with an astounding strike rate of 143.86 and an average of 69.20. He did this all by making a single complete century and seven half-centuries. 

KL Rahul – Punjab Kings – 2020 IPL

Kannur Lokesh Rahul won his orange cap in 2020. He is an important part of the Indian cricket team. He is an opening batsman and also a wicketkeeper for the team. He made the debut of his career in 2014 during a match at Melbourne against Australia. In 2020 IPL, he made 670 runs against 14 matches. His strike rate is 12.34. He also has the highest individual score of Indian Premier League 2020 against Royal Challengers Bangalore which was 132 on 69 balls. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad – Chennai Super Kings – 2021 IPL

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 635 for Chennai Super Kings and bagged the Orange cap trophy of Indian Premier League 2021, the year was successful for IPL bet live. Other than him, only two players have scored more than 600+ runs for Chennai Super Kings during a single season and they are Michael Hussey who made 733 runs in 2013, and Ambati Rayudu who scored 602 runs in 2018 season. 

Who Has Most Orange Cap in IPL?

In all the Indian Premier League seasons, David Warner is the only player who has bagged the highest number of orange cap trophies. He won the award in 2015, 2017, and 2019 while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has a total of three orange cap trophies with the highest number of runs and strike rate in three seasons. His runs, average, and strike rate have cast him the honour of having the most orange cap in IPL seasons.
